Whether you are traveling to California's Central Coast from out of State, you are Day Tripping, on a Weekend Getaway to Wine Country, or if you are lucky enough to live here - Higuera St. in downtown San Luis Obispo is a must on your to-do list.

You could easily spend an entire day leisurely strolling the picturesque, tree lined streets meandering through shop after shop. Higuera St. is the main street through town, but don't miss out on the side streets like Monterey and Marsh and all the little streets in between. Up and down each street you will find an abundance of unique shopping and dining options.

With major retailers like the Apple Store, Express, and       Banana Republic there is no shortage of shopping. But what makes Higurea St. truly unique is the mix of locally owned and boutiques and galleries in the mix like Finders Keepers Consignment, Paper SkyTurn to Nature and Kwirkworld for finding that random thing you really don't need, but you have to have.

One event you must mark on your calendar is the Thursday night Farmer's Market in downtown San Luis Obispo. It's a feast for the eyes and the senses. Open year round (thanks to our perfect weather) this market draws over 10,000 people and is the largest Farmer's Market in California. With live music, food, activities and of course locally grown food and locally made crafts, this is more than just a Farmer's Market - it's an experience! Start your day at of of the many coffee shops in the area. Whether you are a Starbucks die hard, you are looking for a quiet table tucked out of site or just a great spot for people watching, there is a coffee shop for you. Then you can burn a few calories walking up and down the historic streets of downtown and visit the Mission San Luis Obispo. This historic Mission founded in 1772 is one in a chain of Missions built during the founding and development of the region the Spanish called Alta California between 1768 and 1853.

If you are staying for a day, a weekend or an extended visit, there will be no shortage of Things to Do in San Luis Obispo. Just minutes away you can enjoy the breaking surf of the beautiful Pacific Ocean or take in some amazing local wineries. Several other interesting towns nearby include Pismo Beach, Moro Bay, and Avila Beach. It is truly one of the best places to visit and to live in California.
