Living in San Luis Obispo (SLO)

Living in San Luis Obispo More Affectionately Known as SLO

Out walking and enjoying the sunshine a couple of weeks ago, I chatted to a local and I asked this question "What are the drawbacks of Living in SLO?" "mmm" he said "Real Estate prices aren't conducive to First Time Home Buyers. Apart from that, I cannot think of any other major drawbacks"
He also said "The quality of life here is great. The City of SLO allows for residents to escape to the country to go hiking, biking or just a little drive to Morro Bay or Montana de Oro State Park or the surrounding vineyards. "

"There are lots of outdoor activities. About a third of the population of SLO are students who add to the liveliness of this beautiful place. We live in shorts, shirts and sandals for the most part of the year. The summer temperatures are 80F to 90F generally and winter it seldom goes below 60F. The air is clean and generally its a very nice clean place to live."

"My wife and I love that we are able to walk to most restaurants, the theatre, outdoor events and then down in Hiquera Street,  the local farmers come on a Thursday evening and sell their produce."

"If there is anything that could be wrong with this area, the weather would have to be it. Its too mild!"

Well that made me smile. If this sounds like the place you would like to live, then you should be contacting me to come out and take a look at the homes I have for you. If you are a First Time Home Buyer, you are my specialty! I will show you your new home. Don't be concerned about what Dave said… I will help to find you a home!

Holiday Events on the Central Coast December 2013

Holiday Events on the Central Coast December 2013

San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Avila Beach Events & Things to Do

While many people in the Country are bundled up in hats and coats, scraping ice off the windshield, we are enjoying bright sunny days and dining alfresco. Can't beat CA weather!

Maybe snow does make for a more traditional Holiday season, some will argue, but many Californian's create the Holiday spirit in other ways. Whether your toes are in the sand or bundled up in three pairs of scocks, there are always fun ways to celebrate the holidays no matter where you are.

Here are some fun local events to enjoy this season.

Hearst Castle
What better way to get into the Holiday spirit than to visit one of the most breathtaking estates on the West Coast all decked out it its glory. The Hearst Castle in San Simeon, just North of San Luis Obispo, is a magical place to visit any time of year. The main house and guest houses are decorated as they might have been on Christmas in the 1920's and 30's. Day and evening tours are available to get you in the Holiday spirit.

Very Merry Lighthouse Tours
Visit the enchanting and quaint seaside village of Avila Beach during the month of December and enjoy tours of the Point San Luis Lighthouse decorated for the holidays with carolers and refreshments! A true California Central Coast Holiday experience.

Light Up at the Sunken Gardens
The Atascadero Chamber puts on a wonderful show of lights with the official lighting on December 6th downtown at the Sunken Gardens. If you miss the lighting ceremony, you can still take a stroll through the enchanting light display throughout the month of December.

Pismo Beach Holiday Lights
The Pismo Chamber also does a great job lighting up the town.Their official lighting ceremony is also on December 6th, but you can enjoy the lights all month long. What a great way to spend a chilly California evening in December than strolling the beach watching the twinkle of holiday lights.

San Luis Obispo Christmas Parade
The 38th Annual parade kicks off at 7pm on December 6th at the corner of Palm and Chorro Streets in Downtown SLO. This fun, family friendly parade will include nearly 100 bright floats, marching bands, and classic carolers. Get here early and set up your blankets and chairs!.

Morro Bay Boat Parade
Don't miss this floating show of lights on December 7th at 6:30 pm. Boats of all sizes will cruise the harbor in Morro Bay adorned with a show of lights. There will be Christmas music performed by White Caps at the North T-pier starting at 6 pm and a tree lighting, performance and Santa Claus at City Park starting at 4:30.

Holidays in the Pines
Visit the charming seaside village of Cambria throughout the month of December to enjoy the festive ambiance celebrating the season with fabulous decorations and brilliant holiday lights. This is a great place to do your holiday shopping! The village is pet friendly too, so you will find hotels and restaurants that will welcome your precious companion.

Top 10 Reasons to List Your San Luis Obispo Home During the Holidays

Listing a Home for Sale During the Holidays

Opportunity Knocks!

The holiday season is traditionally a slower time in real estate because there are fewer available homes on the market. Many sellers take their listings off the market because they don't want to be bothered with showings or just assume no one will be buying this time of year.

If you are considering selling your home, don't miss out on a golden opportunity to get your home sold faster and for top dollar this holiday season.

Rates still remain low and maybe not for long. There are serious buyers out there just waiting to buy.

Here are the Top 10 Reasons to List Your San Luis Obispo Home During the Holidays

10. By selling now, you may have an opportunity to be a non-contingent buyer during the Spring for your new home. In a competitive market, this is a real advantage.

9. Find a Buyer NOW and negotiate an extended occupancy until after the first of the year.

8. Even though your house will be on the market, you still have the option to restrict showings during the six or seven days around the Holidays.

7. January is traditionally the month for employees to begin new jobs. Since transfers cannot wait until Spring to buy, you need to be on the market during the Holidays to capture the market.

6. Some people must buy before the end of the year for tax reasons.

5. Buyers have more time to look for a home during the Holidays than they do during a work week.

4. Houses show better when decorated for the Holidays.

3. Serious buyers have fewer houses to choose from during the Holidays. Less competition means more money for you.

2. Since the supply of listings will dramatically increase in Spring, there will be less demand for your particular home. Less demand, means less money for you.

And the number one reason why you should list during the Holidays …

1. People who look for homes during the Holidays are more serious buyers!

If you are considering selling your home in San Luis Obispo, please Contact Me today. I will show you how I can help you Sell Your Home for top dollar in today's market. We will work together to make showing your home during the holidays as stress free as possible. I also offer professional organization services to help you get your home show ready.
