Situated on San Luis Obispo Bay, tucked away where the mountains meet the shoreline, Avila Beach, 93424 is a little piece of paradise. And little known to most travelers passing by on US1.Avila Beach, California recently made Yahoo Travel's list of Four Beach Towns that are California's Best Kept Secrets. Yahoo also named Avila Beach as the most kid-friendly beach due to its wonderful waterfront park, aquarium and boardwalk.

One of my favorite places, on the way into Avila Beach from US 1, is Sycamore Mineral Springs & Spa. Whether you are visiting or a local, this is one place you must add to your California Central Coast Bucket List. I also love having breakfast at Fat Cats Cafe and taking a walk on the pier to watch the sea lions frolicking in the bay and barking as they try to maneuver onto their floating docks.
