Best Parks in San Luis Obispo County

Best Parks in San Luis Obispo County

One of my favorite past times on the California Central Coast is getting outdoors and enjoying our local parks. Whether you are an avid hiker or biker, a nature enthusiast or just like the fresh air, there are plenty of parks in our area for everyone.

Cuesta Canyon County Park is the perfect place for a hike. The trail starts off with a nice waterfall and leads you through a forest area with a running creek. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll or a nice hike.

There are many other great hiking options in San Luis Obispo County parks. Most with amazing vistas and a cool ocean breeze. This is probably one of the best areas in the country to hike given the breathtaking scenery and the mild weather. Here are a list of places to Hike in SLO County.

Margo Dodd Park in Pismo Beach is the best place to watch a sunset. There is a small play area and restrooms, so it's great for the little ones. There is also a shallow tide pool for discovery time. Many weddings are held at this picturesque spot.

Eldwayen Ocean Park in Pismo Beach takes you on a somewhat steep journey down a set of stars to the shoreline where you will discover tide pools with sea anemones and other treasures of the sea. The sunsets from this hidden gem of a park are amazing.

Dinosour Caves Park in Pismo offers a fun play area for the kids and is also dog friendly. With plenty of parking, picnic tables and panoramic views, you can't go wrong. Art in the Park is also held here on the first Sunday of the month from May to October.

Laguna Lake Park offers a dog friendly area to let your furry friend socialize. Even if you don't have a dog, it's fun to watch them play. It's not fenced and there are geese that wander, so be aware. The park also has a Frisbee Golf Course.

Montana de Oro State Park is a wonderful place to hike or just take a Sunday drive. The Valencia trail is about 4 miles round trip and about 1,400 feet in elevation. Stunning views! This is a must do hike.

Avila Park is a Pirate themed park in downtown Avila Beach. The kids will love the pirate ship fort, and the play structure with 2 slides, tic-tac-toe game, and seahorse rides. You could spend an entire day here laying on the grassy lawn, taking a stroll to the shore and walking around downtown.
